BEFORE AND AFTER CARE

There are many things that you can do to help achieve your goal more comfortably and quickly.  By following these before and after care guidelines, you can help ensure a successful electrolysis treatment with minimal discomfort and downtime. If you have any questions or concerns about your treatment, pre-care or post-care routine, don't hesitate to call GONE ELECTROLYSIS at: (562) 673 - 2332

PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:

Stop plucking, threading, waxing and epilating: This hair will eventually grow back, so the sooner you let it, the sooner an accurate assessment and treatment plan can be made/adjusted.  It is not necessary to wait until it all grows in, as treatment can begin immediately with what is present.

Shave 2-4 days prior to appointment.  This allows some regrowth, so that hairs can be targeted.  It also makes for a more efficient working area, allowing for more hairs to be treated per session.

Exfoliate 1-2 days prior to appointment.  Do not exfoliate within 24 hours of the day of your appointment.

Avoid sun exposure: Refrain from tanning or exposing the treatment area to direct sunlight for at least 48 hours before your electrolysis session. Sun exposure can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of discomfort during treatment.

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin hydrated and help minimize discomfort during treatment, as well as maximizing efficacy.

No caffeine the day of appointment:  This will help to minimize discomfort during treatment.

No sugar the day of appointment:  This will help to minimize discomfort during treatment.

Cleanse the skin: Wash the treatment area thoroughly with a gentle cleanser before your appointment to remove any dirt, oil, or makeup. Avoid using heavy creams or lotions that could interfere with the electrolysis process.

Apply topical numbing cream 20-30 minutes prior to session:  Some clients choose to apply numbing cream prior to their session.  You can purchase the over-the-counter type, or have a stronger version prescribed by your physician.

Hygiene is a must: Be sure to bathe prior to your appointment, and to refrain from wearing perfumes/colognes.  A comfortable electrologist is an efficient electrologist!

AFTER YOUR VISIT:

Avoid sun exposure: Protect the treated area from direct sunlight for at least 48 hours to prevent irritation and potential complications. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher if you need to go outside.

Avoid Showering after treatment:  Do not shower for the rest of the day.  Do not wash hair for at least 24 hour after treatment

Keep the area clean: Gently cleanse the treated area with a mild, non-abrasive cleanser to remove any debris or bacteria. Scrubbing or rubbing the skin vigorously can cause irritation.  Do not exfoliate for 4-5 days.

Apply light soothing products: To alleviate any discomfort or redness, apply aloe vera gel or witch hazel.  Avoid using products that contain alcohol or harsh chemicals, as they may irritate the skin.  Avoid heavy lotions, creams.

DO NOT touch or pick: Refrain from touching or picking at the treated area to prevent infection and promote healing. Let any scabs or crusting that may form after treatment naturally fall off on their own.

By following these before and aftercare guidelines, you can help ensure a successful electrolysis treatment with minimal discomfort and downtime. If you have any questions or concerns about your treatment or post-care routine, don't hesitate to call.
